What is Farm to Table?

At Mansion House 1757, we pride ourselves on our farm-to-table dining experience. Our talented chefs craft delicious dishes using the freshest, locally sourced ingredients.

We appreciate all that Adams County has to offer, from the bounty of produce, meat, cheese, honey, bread, beer, cider, eggs, and wine from our local farmers and artisans. By prioritizing seasonal produce and sustainable practices, we ensure that every meal is not only flavorful but also supports our local community.

Take a peek at the local farmers and artisans who make our true hospitality a reality and enjoy a culinary journey that highlights the best of our region’s bounty, prepared with care and creativity.

Please Note: Because we are farm to table, our menu’s change with the seasons. The menu’s featured on our website are samples of what we traditionally serve.

Our local Farmer & Artisan Partners

  • About:

We began producing pasture raised livestock and poultry on our small farm, Rettland Farm, for sale directly to consumers in 2007. A lack of adequate meat processing services in the region combined with our long-held interest in making unique, artisanal meat products led us down the path of becoming meat processors, in addition to livestock farmers.

As a result, The Farmstead Butcher was born in 2017, on the premises of Rettland Farm in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Since opening, we have proudly become known for creating "Craft Meat and More!"—by using craftsmanship, time honored techniques and the best meats we can source to make products that are unique, delicious, and fun!

Apple Valley Creamery is a small dairy farm and creamery located in East Berlin, Pennsylvania.  This sixth-generation farm has been in the Stoner family since 1928.  Hard work and perseverance led to the growth of the farm and the establishment of Apple Valley Creamery in 2005.  We are dedicated to being good stewards of the resources God has given to us so that we can pass our family farm on to future generations.  Apple Valley Creamery is currently owned and operated by Larry & Sharon Stoner and their family.

  • About:

Proper soil is where great cider begins, providing the perfect foundation for our trees. Throughout the year specialized pruning techniques and attention to maintenance contribute to the quality of our fruit.  We pay close attention to the fruit ripeness so we never have to use any additional sugar or sweeteners.  Flavor comes naturally from the fruit, as mother nature intended.

We not only grow our fruit but also press, ferment, package and distribute each of our ciders. Utilizing traditional, time-honored cider making methods of slow fermentation, barrel aging and wild yeast fermentation, we showcase a distinct flavor profile, unique to our orchards and our region.

  • About:

Deciding on their honeymoon to quit their Fortune 500 jobs, David and Rynn Caputo attended culinary school in Calabria, Italy for four months. After traveling across all twenty regions of Italy, they knew they were destined to make their culinary passion their life’s work. Upon returning to the States and recognizing the void of cheeses they had grown to love, the idea for a creamery was born, and aptly named after their sons, Giovanni and Matteo Caputo—The Caputo Brothers. Caputo Brothers Creamery, based in Spring Grove, Pennsylvania, has produced handcrafted, authentic Italian cheeses since 2011.

Local Art

Local Artists have graciously decorated our walls with their original pieces of art. All artwork is available to purchase at Mansion House 1757. Below is a taste of the Artists and their story.

Geoffrey Thulin

“I did not choose to be an artist. Art chose me. I drew (as we all did) as a child, often creating episodic picture books that made sense to no one except me. I continued to draw at all ages and and all stages of my life. I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Art from Penn State (University Park, PA), having also studied at Gettysburg College (Gettysburg, PA) and in Grebbestad, Sweden. I have exhibited my work in San Francisco, CA; Martha’s Vineyard, MA; Stamford, CT; Toledo, OH; and Harrisburg, State College and Gettysburg, PA. My work is in private collections throughout the US.

Besides painting, drawing and photography, music is a passion, as is hiking. I have been a professional picture framer for over 20 years, having worked for an art museum, an art gallery and a custom woodworking shop. I live in south central Pennsylvania with my wife, Julie, where we are forever restoring our 1849 stone farmhouse.”

Tom Rooney

Tom Rooney lives right around the corner in Fairfield. He is a 1974 graduate of Gettysburg College, and worked for many years as a Paramedic with the Gettysburg Hospital. His work in watercolor is self taught. Please enjoy his commissioned piece of Mansion House 1757.

Ed Wargo

Ed Wargo began drawing at about the age of 8, inspired by his older brother, in the mid 1980's, he tried oil painting and realized a connection with the world he had never before experienced.

Wargo continued as a dedicated student of art history and painting for the past 30-years. To improve his skills and understanding, he has studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, the Delaplaine Art Center with Mary Pfister, and most recently with Kathy Mabius.

His style is essentially impressionistic with American and Russian painters like Paul Strisik, Emile Gruppe, and Isaak Levitan among those he most admires. Ed donates 75% of sales to S.C.C.A.P., which provides aide to needy individuals in Franklin and Adams Counties.
